Meet Director of Communications and JGPR Academy Instructor: Karyn Regal

Biography

Karyn Regal started her news career as a 16-year-old in the Merrimack Valley by taking advantage of an internship program solely because she wanted to get out of high school on a half-day; she found herself back there a few decades later as a veteran crisis reporter covering one of the worst natural gas disasters in American history.

Karyn learned news on the job, taught how to cover a crisis by the people who responded to them.

Karyn has covered some of the worst and weirdest moments in New England – The Cold Storage Fire in Worcester; The Station Nightclub in Rhode Island; the winter of 2015; the valiant quest to capture a runaway goat in Lowell; the collapse of the MBTA.

Karyn’s favorite part of all these events is the way people come together to help each other. Every single time.

Currently Director of Communications at Lesley University, Karyn spent almost 10 years at WBZ Radio. She was also at CBS News Radio, WCBS, and 1010 WINS.
