
Lt. Jeremiah Nicastro
Biography
Lt. Nicastro has been in law enforcement for 25 years and he currently oversees the Gloucester Police Department Community Impact Unit. During his tenure, he has served as a Correctional Officer, Patrolman, Detective, and Sergeant and in his current position as Lieutenant.
In 2015 Lt. Nicastro played a vital role in the implementation and operation of the “Angel Initiative” one of the pathways in the evolving field of deflection. The Angel Program although highly successful in its mission has expanded through our Community Impact Unit to be more inclusive of an overall community outreach approach that supports multiple pathways to recovery and treatment for all services needed to improve the quality of life for our residents. The Community Impact Unit takes on a problem-solving approach to address those struggling with substance use disorder, housing insecurities and mental health disorders.
Lt. Nicastro also served on a United Nation World of Medicine committee to train how police can take a different approach to address community needs. He is also a Subject Matter Expert for Operation to Save Lives
