Lieutenant Matthew Solak
Lieutenant Matthew Solak has been a Police Officer in the Willimantic (CT.) Police Department for the past nineteen years, and is presently assigned to the Administration Division, which oversees the Department’s Police Social Worker and Police Assisted Recovery Program.
Overview
The emergent field of police social work is here to stay, and more and more departments are working with social workers to more effectively address issues related to mental health concerns, substance use disorder, and homelessness. However, you can’t just put a social worker in a police car and expect it to work. This course will discuss the best way to identify and onboard a police social worker for your agency, and how to find the best fit for your officers, department, and community.
