Overview
This training is taught by Ret. Commander David Avery who is a retired Randolph Police officer having served for 32 years. During his career he served as a patrol officer, duty detective, prosecutor and supervisor before retiring as an executive officer with the rank of Lieutenant.
This class will address the importance of proper complaint protocols and internal investigations regarding intake, delegation and proper procedures to avoid potential crisis creating incidents.
Topics discussed include the importance of clear-cut policies, having assigned investigators, management of investigations and informed decisions for appropriate dispositions.
Legal issues in the school environment will be addressed, including harassment, inappropriate behaviors and potential violations of laws.
Lastly, best practices for investigations including, interviews, evidence collection and documentation for a professional, transparent and thorough approach resulting in district and community confidence.
