JGPR Academy Holds Successful Class on Violent Intruder Preparedness

CANTON — JGPR Academy held a successful course on “Violent Intruder Preparedness For Municipal Offices, Businesses, Schools, and Places of Worship” today, June 22. 

The course was taught by Ret. Police Commander John Hamelburg, who served on the Randolph Police Department for more than 35 years.

Topics covered included how leaders can plan for, train for and respond to a Violent Intruder Incident, as well as teaching participants how to create an All Hazards Plan that can be implemented at their workplace, office, place of worship, or school. 

The course, which was taught in-person at JGPR Academy’s Canton classroom as well as available via Zoom, featured robust discussion among students facilitated by Commander Hamelburg. 

JGPR Academy will be offering several additional classes next month, including “Public Relations and Media Relations for First Responders” on July 13, “Public Relations and Crisis Management for School Administrators” on July 20, and “Effective Communications Strategies for Municipal Leaders and Department Heads” on July27.
